The one thing about being a Stay At Home Mum - there are no sick days! I'm feeling yuck today with a headache and upset tummy, and it seems like Audrey's not feeling too well either.
Fortunately we have coping strategies! All outside trips cancelled (sorry, knitting group and library!) and we're all snuggled up at home reading books and doing craft stuff for the day. Lots of easy food and lots of lovely naps, and especially lots of not bothering too much about picking toys up off the floor or cleaning crayon off the window.
Lately we've been doing lots of fun learning and crafting activities. I always get a bit down at this time of year - summer is over, boo! And it's still waaaay too early to be getting excited for Christmas. So I've been covering the walls of our living room with lots of fun, autumn-coloured art and craft work with the help of Miss Audrey Bea.
We've put up paintings of autumn trees (these are so easy - make a hand/forearm print with brown paint, or if your child is bigger get them to do it, then use finger prints in autumn colours for the leaves!).
We're replacing our summer garden with paper plate planets.
And we've done some fun "pumpkin" stamping with potatoes (again, so easy - cut a potato in half then carve out a pumpkin face, et voila!).
Today we're working on another fun leaf-based activity - we went out for a walk yesterday evening before dinner and collected lots of big sticks, and put them in an empty vase. Today we've been making autumn leaves to stick to the branches, and we'll fill the base with interesting stones we collected last week at the Hermitage. I'll post pics when they're done!
