Back!

I've not posted in far, far too long. My only excuse is that I've been super busy with work, and also had a horrible cold that's gone on and on. I really enjoy blogging, so hopefully after the end of this week things will calm down enough that I can catch up with it again!

Audrey is doing great, despite being also sick with a cold and getting two new (back) teeth in the last week. Poor baby! So her sleep has been a little messed up, but actually not too much. We had two nights of very early morning waking, but both times managed to get her soothed back down again without too much fuss. An interesting change, for me, is that she's becoming more and more attached to her Dada, and more and more she wants him instead of me in the night time.

In what free time we've had lately, we've tried to get outside to make the most of what's left of the sunshine. We've spent a lot of time at the Hermitage this summer, it's been our favourite place to play, meet up with friends, or just head out to when the day is getting on top of us and we need a break.

Whether we're here with a big group, with one or two special people, or just the two of us, it's always exactly right.

Audrey points up in the air and says "Big tree!" and "oh wow!" She says sky and cold and water. She paddles in the burn. "Toes!" she says, and points in amazement at her own feet under the ice cold water.

She loves the dogs and has no fear of them, but doesn't like it when they steal her food (which they do!). She likes it best when she sees a bird; the other day we saw one building its nest in the tree above us and she stood and stared up at the little basket of twigs until she fell over.

In developmental news, her vocab is expanding by three or four words a day at least. She's starting to get the concept of colours - she said black first, then red, and just this morning "blue". She can also point to orange, green and yellow.

She's also got a few French words now - she says bonjour, 'ci (for merci), and makes an attempt at nounours. She tries to jump all the time - she's getting there.

Now, my camera is charging and I'm ready to return to Blogland and post a bit more often. Glad to be back!
